Yesterday- Dec 3, 2011, We were at the North Quincy High School, MA participating and competing for the Eastern Massachusetts Qualifier with my Team, 387 Nanocells26. It was my first ever experience participating in First Lego League competition. There were 48 teams competing for 14 entry spots for MA state level competition.

We gave out best in the competition. Guess what? We got an entry to State level by winning this competition in a BIG way. There were 4 different categories that we were judged upon: Robot Competition, Research Project, Technical presentation and Core Values Presentation. We had 4 rounds of Robot competitions competing against another team on the field. We scored highs in 3 of 4 rounds and remained top scorers on the charts. We scored 174 and walked away two awards.

Round-1 : 169
Round-2 : 87 (by accident, we had one of the motor's cable disconnected and hence the Robot resisted to move)
Round-3 : 174
Round-4 : 140

The next highest performing team scored 135.

Also, at the end there were 16 awards given to teams in various categories and our team won two best awards: Champions Award and Robot Performance Award.

I am proud to be part of this team with my friends Josh, Sam and Alex.

Thanks to all Dads and Moms for guiding us and Josh's Dad, our lead coach.

This has been my first ever such experience and I enjoyed, had fun and more importantly learned a lot. Thanks to Alex and his Dad for opening up the communication when I was looking for a team to join with. Thanks to Sam and his Dad for being very supportive. Thanks to Josh and his Dad for guiding me through all the practices. Thanks to all Moms for taking us to the Apple field and helping us research the project.

Thanks to my Mom for contacting the team to get me into this and for all good food after long practice nights and a delicious breakfast on the competition day.

The team with awards and Golden Ticket to the State

Thanks to my Dad who has been coming in early from work for my evening practices, driving me each Sunday afternoon after a long Math class and advising me on all my moves and helping me learn. Also, thanks to my little brother Bhuvan for being patient and staying with us while we were running late evening practices.

Last but not least thanks to SYRA for organizing Monday meets, quizzes, advices and providing a platform for test runs against other teams.

At the end it has been a rewarding experience and I am looking forward for more experiences at the State level competition at Robonautica MA Championship on Dec 17, 2011.

I won cup stacking competition at my new school...

My new school, Cottage Street Elementary School celebrated Cougar Day today and we had Cup Stacking competition. I competed with 4th and 5th graders and won the finals to become Cup Stacking Champion!. My classmates were cheering saying "Go Rithvik" when I entered the finals.

It was a 6-cup stacking competition. We had toturn 6 cup stack into a pyramid of 3,2,1 and then back to single 6 stack. I did all that in 2.15 seconds.

I got "Cup Stacking Champion" certificate and Free Friday popcorn for the rest of the year. That was so cool.

My brother Bhuvan also competed with 2nd and 3rd graders and won the final. He learned the technique from me the night before and won in 2nd and 3rd grade category. I didn't expect him to win. I am happy for him.
